This Privacy Policy applies to all users of retpickups.com and related services, regardless of their country of origin. It complies with the Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares (LFPDPPP) of Mexico, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) of the United States, and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of Canada.

RET Pickups is a private airport transfer service operating from Cancún International Airport to destinations throughout the Riviera Maya, México.

2. Data we collect

We collect personal information only when necessary to provide our services. The categories of data we collect include:

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Full name — to identify you and prepare your driver's sign
  • Email address — for booking confirmation and communications
  • Phone number / WhatsApp — for booking coordination and pre-arrival contact
  • Flight number and arrival date/time — to monitor your flight and coordinate pickup
  • Number of passengers — to assign the appropriate vehicle
  • Destination (hotel or address) — to plan your transfer route
  • Special requests — including child seat needs (age/weight), beverage preferences, and luggage specifications
  • Payment information — processed exclusively through Stripe; we never store card data on our servers
  • Communications content — messages sent to us via WhatsApp or email

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • IP address and browser information — collected by Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
  • Pages visited and time spent — collected by Google Analytics
  • Device type and operating system — collected by Google Analytics
  • Referral source — how you found our website
  • Interaction data — clicks, scroll depth, and conversions tracked by Meta Pixel and Google Analytics
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 9 for details

2.3 Information we do not collect

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information, or biometric data, unless explicitly provided by the user in a special request (e.g., medical equipment for transport).

3. How we use your data

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Booking management: Processing your transfer reservation, confirming availability, and coordinating your pickup
  • Flight monitoring: Tracking your flight in real time to adjust pickup time in case of delays or early arrivals
  • Driver assignment: Sharing your name, flight details, and destination with your assigned driver
  • Payment processing: Issuing payment links via Stripe and generating payment confirmations
  • Pre-trip communication: Sending trip details, driver information, and meeting point instructions via WhatsApp or email
  • Customer support: Responding to inquiries, complaints, or special requests
  • Service improvement: Analyzing website usage through Google Analytics to improve user experience
  • Marketing (with consent): Retargeting campaigns through Meta Pixel and Google platforms, only when you have accepted marketing cookies
  • Legal compliance: Fulfilling legal obligations under Mexican, US, and Canadian law
  • Fraud prevention: Detecting and preventing fraudulent bookings or payments

4. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data under the following legal bases depending on the applicable jurisdiction:

Mexico (LFPDPPP)

  • Consentimiento (Consent): For marketing communications and non-essential cookies
  • Relación jurídica (Contractual relationship): For all data necessary to fulfill your transfer booking
  • Interés legítimo (Legitimate interest): For fraud prevention and security
  • Obligación legal (Legal obligation): For tax records and fiscal compliance

United States (CCPA — California residents)

  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties
  • We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising without your consent
  • California residents have the right to opt out of any future data sharing — contact us at info@retpickups.com

Canada (PIPEDA)

  • Consent: For all data collection not strictly necessary for service delivery
  • Contractual necessity: For data required to complete your booking

5. Third-party services and data processors

We work with trusted third-party services to operate our business. These companies act as data processors under contract with us and are not authorized to use your data for their own purposes beyond the scope of their service:

Future services (Phase 2): We intend to integrate additional automation and CRM services in future development phases, including N8N workflow automation, SendGrid for email, and WhatsApp Business API. This policy will be updated accordingly before any such integration goes live.

6. International data transfers

As a Mexican company serving customers primarily from the United States and Canada, your personal data may be transferred between México, the United States, and Canada in the course of providing our services.

Such transfers occur when:

  • Payment data is processed by Stripe (United States)
  • Analytics data is processed by Google (United States)
  • Advertising data is processed by Meta (United States)
  • You communicate with us via WhatsApp (United States/global infrastructure)

All transfers to third-party processors are governed by data processing agreements that require adequate protection standards equivalent to those applicable in México under LFPDPPP.

For transfers involving Canadian residents, we ensure compliance with PIPEDA Schedule 1 principles. For California residents, we ensure compliance with CCPA requirements.

7. How long we keep your data

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, subject to the following retention periods:

  • Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data, subject to legal retention requirements

Mexican residents (LFPDPPP — Derechos ARCO)

  • Rectificación: Correction of inaccurate data
  • Cancelación: Deletion of your data when no longer necessary

California residents (CCPA)

  • Right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold

  • Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data)
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights

Canadian residents (PIPEDA)

  • Right to challenge accuracy and completeness

9. Cookies and tracking technologies

In summary, we use:

  • Essential cookies: Required for basic website functionality (cannot be disabled)
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics — website usage statistics (requires consent)
  • Marketing cookies: Meta Pixel — conversion tracking and retargeting (requires consent)
  • Tag management: Google Tag Manager — manages other tracking scripts

10. Artificial intelligence and automated systems

We use and may use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the following contexts:

10.1 Website development

The retpickups.com website was developed with the assistance of AI tools, including Anthropic's Claude. No customer personal data was shared with AI providers during development.

10.2 Automated communications (future)

In a future development phase, we intend to implement automated communication systems powered by AI (including chatbot functionality via WhatsApp Business API and automated email systems). When implemented, these systems will:

  • Be clearly identified as automated to users
  • Allow users to request human assistance at any time
  • Not make binding decisions without human review

10.3 No automated decision-making

We do not currently use automated decision-making processes that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals. All booking confirmations, pricing decisions, and service assignments are reviewed by human team members.

11. Children's privacy

Our services are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without verifiable parental consent.

When a booking includes child passengers (for child seat requests), the information provided relates to the child's age or weight for safety purposes only. This information is used solely to prepare the appropriate child restraint system and is not retained beyond the service delivery period.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or applicable laws. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Post a notice on our website for a reasonable period
  • Where required by law, notify affected users directly
